The process
Consult, make informed and intentional decisions and finalize...
Mediation doesn't have to be complicated. Here's exactly what to expect — step by step.
Consultation, Education & Preparation
We begin with a private consultation to understand your situation and goals. You'll learn how transformative mediation works, what to expect, and how to prepare. This stage ensures both parties enter the process informed, grounded, and ready to engage constructively.
- joint initial consultation
- Overview of the legal issues and decisions that will need to be made in mediation
- joint preparation meeting to prepare for mediation
- No pressure — you work at your own pace
Mediation
Both parties meet together with the mediator in a structured, supportive environment. These sessions focus on open communication, identifying shared interests, and working through the key issues in a productive manner and at your own pace.
- Neutral, confidential setting
- Mediator guides conversation without taking sides
- Sessions scheduled at your convenience
- Typically 2–4 sessions depending on complexity
Drafting the Agreement
Once you've reached decisions on all issues, the mediator drafts a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding and reviews it with both of you to clarify and explain all aspects of its terms.
- Joint drafting of the Memorandum of Understanding
- Your mediator will address any questions or concerns
- Both parties review and confirm accuracy
- Hand off to a legal professional for drafting and filing
Filing with the Court
We will connect you with an affordable legal professional that will prepare and file all of the necessary formal legal documents required by the court for a low flat rate in most cases. Once filed and approved, your divorce is finalized — on your terms, not a judge's.
- Your own mediated agreement will become your divorce decree
- Significantly faster than contested litigation
- Court approval typically straightforward with a complete agreement
- You leave with clarity and a plan you both created
